Overkill - The Atlantic Years 1986-1996 - 6 Vinyl Boxset
Overkill ist eine amerikanische Thrash-Metal-Band, die 1980 in New Jersey gegründet wurde. Sie werden oft als "die Motörhead des Thrash Metal" bezeichnet, was auf ihren einzigartigen Spielstil zurückzuführen ist, der vom Punkrock und der neuen Welle des britischen Heavy Metal beeinflusst wurde. Sie waren auch eine der ersten Thrash-Metal-Bands, die bei einem Major-Label unterschrieben (1986 bei Atlantic Records), und wurden als Teil der Genre-Bewegung Mitte bis Ende der 1980er Jahre zusammen mit den "großen Vier" (Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer und Anthrax) sowie Exodus und Testament berühmt. Mit ihrem zweiten Studioalbum und Atlantic-Debüt, Taking Over (1987), das weltweit gelobt wurde und in den Charts erfolgreich war, erzielten Overkill ihren ersten Mainstream-Erfolg. Die nächsten fünf Studioalben der Band erschienen ebenfalls bei Atlantic - Under the Influence (1988), The Years of Decay (1989), Horrorscope (1991), I Hear Black (1993) und W.F.O. (1994) - und waren ebenfalls weltweit erfolgreich und machten sie zu einer der erfolgreichsten Thrash-Metal-Bands der Ostküste. Overkill haben inzwischen neunzehn Studioalben veröffentlicht und touren auch heute noch vor großem Publikum durch die Welt.
